In Office Procedures: Osteoporosis

Osteoporosis is a condition in which bones lose excessive amounts of minerals including calcium. Osteoporosis literally means “porous bones”. A patient that is suffering from osteoporosis is likely to fracture and break bones easily. This most commonly occurs in the spine, hip, and wrist. This is easily diagnosed by a bone mineral density test in our office. This test is pain free and is similar to an x-ray.

There are many medications that your physician may prescribe to treat and or prevent osteoporosis.
